Today, I finished this week’s Māori kick start activity on the two taniwha guardians. For this task, I got the understanding of making an animation. I didn’t get the task, so I assumed that I had to make the animation about the two taniwhas. One of them guards the North Island of New Zealand and the other guards the South. They are now known as the cliffs in Hokianga, North Island. This is my animation that I think was the task.
Which taniwha would you want to be and why?
Kia ora Isa,
It’s Charlotte again, a Summer Learning Journey Blog Commenter. Well done for finishing the Āraiteuru and Niua Kick Start activity. What was your favourite part, and why?
Your animation is fantastic! I find animating on Google Slides quite difficult, it reminds me of creating Stop Motion animation. Have you done either before this activity? How do you find it?
Well done on giving this activity a go! It sounds like it was quite a challenge. Learning a new language (like Te reo) is very good for your brain. Do you know any other languages other than English? What languages would you like to learn and why?

Kia Ora Charlotte,
It’s Isa here. Thank you for your comment. I liked reading what you said about my Āraiteuru and Niua Kick Start activity. My favourite part was making the animation because I’ve done plenty of animations before, so it felt fun and familiar.
I’ve only done a few stop‑motions, and those are harder because you have to move things a tiny bit each time, but they look cool when they work.
I actually speak fluent Cantonese, but I can’t write it. If I could learn more languages, I would choose Japanese, French, Spanish, and German because they’re all interesting and useful in different places around the world.
