SLJ 2026 Megalodon and More – Step It Up

Today, I completed the Step It Up version of using Google Drawings with stuff like the megalodon. First, I had to choose an extinct creature, which I had to find an image of it. Then I had to trace my picture with Google Drawing to make it look cartoon. Finally I dragged the image away and coloured my creature. I chose the Terror Bird. As the descendent of the dinosaur, the closest to this bird is the Seriema in the modern day. This is my cartoon Terror Bird artwork.

What extinct animal would you bring back to the future?

  1. Kia ora Isa,

It’s Charlotte again, a blog commenter for the Summer Learning Journey. I have really enjoyed getting to check out your blog posts each day. I always learn something new!

What made you choose to focus your design on the Terror Bird? It is a very interesting animal. I searched them up and they are huge! I think if I saw one in real life, it would be quite scary! What would your reaction be if you saw a Terror Bird?

I always find it sad to hear about different species of animals becoming extinct. What else do you think we could do to help prevent the extinction of other animals so they don’t end up like the Terror Bird?

    1. Kia Ora Charlotte,

It’s Isa here. Thank you for your comment. I liked reading what you said about my Terror Bird design. I chose the Terror Bird because it looked unusual and a bit creepy, so I thought it would be fun to turn into a creature design. If I saw one in real life, I think I would freeze for a second and then slowly back away because they are massive and look like they could chase you pretty fast.

I also think it’s sad when animals become extinct. To help stop that from happening to other species, we could protect their habitats, reduce pollution, and make sure people don’t hunt or disturb them. Even small things like planting trees or keeping beaches clean can make a difference.

      From Isa
